About JNCASR Born out of an idea to facilitate academic discourse and advancement through interdisciplinary collaborative research in advanced areas of science, the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) was established by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India in 1989. JNCASR has steadily grown to become a top national multidisciplinary research institute that has considerable global recognition. In 2002, the Centre was declared a Deemed-to-be-University by the University Grants Commission, allowing it to confer degrees to its students directly. Today, the Centre has 400+ students, several renowned faculty members, and 9 research units with top-class research infrastructure. Together, the JNCASR research community has made countless innovations and conducted groundbreaking research, which is reflected in the various awards, publications, and patent grants of these researchers on national and international platforms. About POCE As part of its Science Outreach Programme, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) conducts a Project Oriented Chemistry Education (POCE) programme for students studying in the 1st year of a three-year or four-year bachelor’s programme. Through this programme, undergraduate students can explore their academic potential. Selected students will have the opportunity to attend lectures, participate in laboratory projects, and conduct research. The programme will be conducted during the summer vacation for a period of 6 to 8 weeks over three consecutive summers. Selected students are expected to commit to the programme for three years, and successful candidates will receive a Diploma in Chemistry from the Centre. Those who complete the POCE programme with outstanding performance will be eligible for admission to the MS-PhD programme in the Centre, subject to satisfactory performance in the interview. Eligibility Students presently studying in the 1st year of their three-year or four-year Bachelor programme in science (Preferably with Chemistry and Physics as major subjects). Students of the Integrated BS/MS programme are not eligible for the POCE programme. Merely applying to the programme and satisfying the eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection. Fellowships The total number of fellowships offered will be up to TEN. A fellowship amount of Rs. 10,000/- per month will be provided.
