The scheme titled as Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar ( PMRBP) is being implemented by of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. Objective Celebrate the energy, determination, ability, zeal and enthusiasm of our children who had shown exceptional achievement in any field including academics, arts, culture and sports etc Nature of Awards The maximum number of awards would be 25. However, any relaxation to this maximum number may be permitted at the discretion of the PMRBP Committee. Bravery Award: The award is given to a young child to acknowledge her/his selfless service in the face of risk to her/his own life; and/or an act of outstanding courage and daring against an adverse natural or man-made situations; and/or an exceptional act of mental strength, quick wit and presence of mind in the face of grave danger to self and society. Excellence Award: The award is given to children who have overcome their ordinary circumstances to achieve exceptional and outstanding outcomes in the following fields: Social Service Leadership skills in motivating, organizing and mobilizing community towards rights of women & children and others Environment Consistent efforts/achievements in environmental issues at various levels Sports Consistent achievements in sports at National and International levels to be encouraged Art & Culture Consistent efforts to promote cultural heritage and achievements in art & culture at National and International level in art, music (vocal & instrumental), dance, painting or any other form of art /culture Science & Technology - Includes new developments/Innovation that have positively impacted society, improved quality of life, or contributed solving real-world challenges. The Award in each category shall carry a Medal and a Certificate. The recipients of the PMRBP shall be declared every year on 26th December on 'Veer Baal Diwas'. Eligibility A child who is an Indian Citizen and is resident of India. Age Limit: A Child above the age of 5 years and not exceeding 18 years (as on 31st July of respective year). The act/incident/achievement should have been within 2 years of the last date of receipt of application/nomination for the year of consideration Who can nominate ? Any individual or institution may nominate children with exceptional achievements for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP). Children may also apply through self-nomination. Recommendations shall also be invited from the Central Ministers [Cabinet Ministers/Minister of State (Independent Charge)/Minister of States], Chief Ministers/Governors/Lieutenant Governors/Administrators of all States/UTs, Members of Parliament, Ministries/Departments of the Central Government, State Governments/UT Administrations, Principal Secretaries of Women and Child Development/Social Welfare of States/UTs, District Magistrates/Collectors, Educational Institutions/schools under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan/Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Applications need to be made online at https://awards.gov.in/ . Applications are sought between April 1 - July 31 every year. Selection Process All nominations received for the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) shall be placed before the PMRBP Committee, which is to be constituted by the Hon'ble Minister for Women and Child Development. The Committee will comprise domain experts from various fields in which the PMRBP are conferred and will be chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development. No award shall be conferred except on the recommendation of the PMRBP Committee. As the award is very prestigious, the PMRBP Committee is expected to apply the highest standards while recommending a child for the award. The PMRBP Committee must look into the exceptional and distinguished achievements of an individual along with its benefits, as applicable, to society. The PMRBP should be given for excellence and exceptional contributions and not merely routine lifetime contributions. The recommendation by the PMRBP Committee will be submitted to the Hon'ble Minister, Women and Child Development for approval.
